The rules are absolutely straightforward and consist of the player trying to get the highest combination of cards possible in order to come away with money. After the bettor has decided on which cards he would like to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards are given out if desired. The game is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.
Typically, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can range from game to game, so that experienced players are agile enough to choose the most money-making machine every time.
As soon as the first round has completed, the player can either choose to remain on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that has been won. Additionally, a few styles of the game give the enthusiast a chance to increase their profits, in which situation another game is played. There are also differences between specific machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
