Video Poker is a beloved game that can be played in casinos around the globe, or in your house on your PC, using a web account. The game of Electronic Poker starts when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A five card hand will then be "distributed" on the video screen.
The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the bettor would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the player has decided on which cards she would like to keep, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards are handed out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.
Normally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can vary from game to game, so that knowledgeable players are able to select the most profitable ones every instance.
After the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that has been won. Further, several versions of the game give the player a chance to double their winnings, in which case another game is played. There are also differences between specific machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
